BrightBridge Credit Union is awarding the following scholarships in 2026:

  • The James A. Burley, Jr. Scholarships, awarded to three students who excel academically, actively participate in extracurricular activities and provide exceptional essay responses. First place is $5,000; second place is $3,000; and third place is $2,000.

  • The Lisa Lewis Goodman Community Spirit Award which recognizes the student who demonstrates exceptional dedication to serving their community, both within and beyond school. The recipient will receive $2,500.

  • Fourteen $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students based on their academic achievements in high school, dedication to extracurricular and community activities and their essay responses.

Who is eligible?

Graduating seniors of public, private religious or technical high schools located in our field of membership.

Students must be planning to attend full-time (at least 12 credits or the equivalent) in a certificate, associate's or bachelor's program at an accredited college in the United States.

Applicants do not need to be BrightBridge Credit Union members.

When is the deadline?
Interested students must submit the application below on or before February 28, 2026.

Application Procedure & Checklist

  • Complete the online application in its entirety. Only online applications will be accepted.
  • Please collect the following before starting your application:
    • Transcript of student grades
    • Completed essay (500 words or fewer) on the following topic:
      Describe an event, experience, or person that has been your biggest influence or inspiration. How did this event, experience, or person help shape who you are today?
    • One letter of recommendation from a teacher, guidance counselor, coach, scout leader, religious leader, or similar mentor

If your recommender prefers to submit the letter directly to BrightBridge Credit Union:

In the Letter of Recommendation upload field, submit a blank document titled: “Letter of Recommendation will be emailed.”

Ask your recommender to email the letter to opink@brightbridge.com. They should include your full name and your school in the email.
